I know You hear the cries of every soul tonight
You see the teardrops as they roll tonight
Down the faces of saints
Who grow weary and faint in Your fields
And the wicked roam the cities and the streets tonight
But when the God of love and thunder speaks tonight
I believe You will come
Your justice be

MUSIC NOTE
I am especially grateful to have Bethany Foster again serving as guest organist. We are also blessed to welcome a special group of Rogers Adventist School students under the direction of Holly Carpenter. These students include Maddaly Franklin, viola; Joy Willard, cello; and Addison Acker, piano. Finally, we thank our teachers from Rogers Adventist School for our praise band.
Our opening hymn presents a wonderful hymn tune, Abbot’s Leigh, written by Cyril V. Taylor in 1941 f(not 1937, as indicated in our hymnal). During World War II, the staff of the British Broadcasting Company, including Mr. Taylor, were evacuated out of London. Cyril Taylor moved first to Bristol, and then eventually to the village of Abbot’s Leigh where he wrote this, his first hymn tune. The wonderful text is by Fred Pratt Green (1903–2000), one of the most important of last century’s hymn writers. As you prepare your heart to worship God, I invite you to silently meditate on the first stanza of this hymn.
God is here! As we His people
Meet to offer praise and prayer,
May we find in fuller measure
What it is in Christ we share.
Here, as in the world around us,
All our varied skills and arts
Wait the coming of the Spirit
Into open minds and hearts.
-Kraig Scott
