"After all, you must have
a capacity to receive,
or even omnipotence can't give."
-C.S. Lewis, A Grief Observed
NEXT SABBATH:
GOD'S KITCHEN: SINGING

continuing our winter quarter sermon series exploring the disciplines that promote
spiritual well being.
Pastor Alex will be here to guide us through an experience that will nourish our souls through the practice of singing.
Our Worship hours will not change:
First Serve: 9:30-10:30am
Second Service: 11:45am-1:00pm
WORSHIP NOTES
Today we have the pleasure of welcoming the Rogers Adventist School orchestras under the direction of Noel Jabagat. We also welcome Richard Scott, of the WWU library, for serving as our guest organist. Thank you all for sharing your music with us!
The anthem presents an arrangement of Hymn No.12, “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee.” This tune, written by Ludwig van Beethoven for the final movement of his Symphony No.9, was meant to sound like a folksong. Beethoven succeeded very well in this intention – today the tune is sung all over the world and included in countless hymnals. The soaring grandeur of medieval cathedrals inspired Kenneth Baird to compose the postlude, “Cathedral Square.” The original theme of this composition eventually culminates with Hymn No.1, “Praise to the Lord.”
As you prepare to worship I invite you to silently meditate on the words of these hymns.
-Kraig Scott
